Apple Unveiled their 16″ MacBook Pro on November 13 2019.This is perhaps the best laptop that Apple has ever made.The 15″ MacBook Pro,which was Apple’s best laptop, is finally being replaced by the New 16″ MBP.
The weight of the laptop has increased from 4 pounds to 4.3 pounds which is welcome as it has a bigger battery capacity of 100Wh which is also the limit of battery size allowed to the carried on a plane.They promise upto 11 hours Wireless Web browsing and same with Apple TV playback.30 days standby time and a USB 3.1 96W Power Adapter.The 15″MBP had a mainly 2 problems: Butterfly Keyboard & Thermal Heating.
The new MBP comes with a bigger screen with slimmer bezels,increased thickness, fixed the thermal performance issues and moved to the Traditional Scissor Mechanism Keyboard from the Universally hated Butterfly Mechanism Keyboard(4th iteration) which are being made from Glass Reinforced Nylon.
Other improvements include The Touch ID sensor being separated from the Touch Bar on the right hand upper corner and the significantly improved the microphone quality which they are calling as a “Studio Quality Microphone”.They have improved their front firing speakers to be better than the 15″MBP. They still are the industry leading high standards. And they have added a Force Cancelling Woofers which offers much better Base than before.
The new Specs include Storage options include 512GB all the way upto 8TB SSD, RAM options include 16GB all the way upto 64GB DDR4, Graphics are AMD Radeon Pro 5300M/5500M with 4GB/8GB GDDR6 with automatic graphic switching combined with Intel UHD 630 Graphics, 9 Gen 6 core i7 2.6GHz base clock and 4.5 GHz boost clock and 9 Gen 8 core i9 2.3GHz base clock and 4.8GHz boost clock, 500 nits of peak brightness, P3 wide colourgamut.60Hz refresh rates, True Tone Technology, Retina Display 3072×1920 resolution with 226 pixels per inch.Still LCD not OLED. And 4 USB-C Thunderbolt3.1 Gen 2 ports capable of charging, display port, 4 lanes of PCIe and a Headphone Jack.Still 4 in The Highest End laptop of APPLE.
Due to the increased thickness and the improvised software management, the i9 processor varient of the laptop has 28% better thermal efficiency.
The 16″MBP launched with MacOS 10.14 Mojave with MacOS 10.15 Catalina on the way.
It became available for orders on November 15 in US and November 20 in India.
