The OnePlus Concept One

2020 seems to be a very special year with OnePlus making their debut in the world renouned CES held annually. Their showcase, seems to be quite a buzz maker.

OnePlus showcased their bizzarely eye-catching concept phone which they made in partnership with McLaren. It’s a OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition which had its exteriors replaced with McLaren themed Papaya Orange Leather and the expensive looking stitching, oh my good lord, what a piece of craftsmanship.

This phone has bulit up some hype around itself and for good reason. The reason being, its cameras. Now, the cameras are still the OnePlus 7T Pro hardware and the software seems to be the exact one. The change is on the outside of the camera. As the phones are built, the cameras are housed in a Corning Gorilla completely transparent glass housing set-up. The cameras are housed in what’ s called an “Electro-Chromatic Glass” housing set-up inspired by the Electro-Chromatic Glass Roof on the McLaren supercars. Basically, what the glass does is, it creates a Disappearing and Re-appearing Cameras effect on the back of the phone. The back glass goes from No Cameras to Re-appearing cameras as soon as you open the camera app, i.e., 0.7 seconds.

This is a very interesting technology to catch up on. As the tech world improves, more and more cameras have been popping up in phones, specifically Android. This technology can help in adding any number of cameras as needed and still give a camera-bump free multiple camera still good and sleek looking phones in future. This certainly deserves the hype it’s been building around itself.

Now, OnePlus says that this phone is not intended to be sold in its current form as per OnePlus and they have given no details as to a possible future release date. Until then, Fingers Crossed…
