Apple announced its new Budget iPhone in the middle of April for US $400. This is the exact price for which they released the iPhone SE a few years back. And this SE follows the same footsteps.
The new 2020 iPhone SE is comprised of a new Camera system along with the Performance of iPhone 11 series added on to the Body of iPhone 8. And a little more.Like the Dust and Water Resistance rating of IP67. iPhone SE is water resistant to 1 metre for 30 minutes. It’s not afraid of a little coffee, tea or soft drinks either. And dust doesn’t even matter.
The new iPhone packs some flagship features out of the box, like Wireless Charging.The company moved their Logo to the middle of phone to give a nice look and feel to the back of the phone. But the front is still ugly compared to the phones of the present which is because of the Bigggg Bezels. But, unlike the old bezeled iPhones, this time the bezels of all the color varients is black. A nice trade off I will gladly accept.
Speaking of the front of the phone, there’s also the return of the Touch ID. It almost seems as if Apple predicted that people won’t be able to use Face ID in 2020 due to all the masks and all. So, Touch ID at the rescue. You gotta have something to keep the phones selling.
The front also packs in a 720p Liquid Retina Display, a.k.a, Apple’s in-house built LCD Panel which is not bright enough outdoors when compared to iPhone 8 and later arrivals.
Although some of the trade offs were acceptable, the most amazing thing Apple did which nobody predicted was the return of Headphone Jack. Yesss! Speakers at bottom coupled with 3.5mm headphone Jack is a sight to be amazed by. Wow.
iPhone SE 2020 comes in RED BLACK & WHITE. In the past, Product RED always aided Cancer Research. But this time, Product Red for Covid relief. Need of the Hour.
Apart from all that about what’s outside, let’s take a deep dive into what’s inside. Apple markets the Phone saying that iPhone 11 series is asking for its Processor back. And it’s a very good thing that Apple decided too go with A13 Bionic in SE 2020. Due to which, the phone churns out Amazing Performance. The iPhone SE lets you watch up to 13 hours of video on a single charge. When you do need to power up, just set it down on a wireless charger. Or connect to an 18W fast‑charge adapter to go from zero to up to 50% in 30 minutes. It promises an Amazing Battery Life although it has less than 2000mAh battery capacity.
Apple took a huge Leap in it’s Cameras with the iPhone 11 series and yes, the same quality comes to SE. Almost… The new SE houses a new Single Camera system. The camera performs well for the price tag it has. I mean, through enough light at it and it will take really good pics, but the camera struggles a lot in the dark as it has no Night Mode. It can also take 4K 30fps videos with OIS and EIS. And it beats any of it’s Android competitors in Video category by a mile. The advanced camera system with A13 Bionic brings you Portrait mode, which artfully blurs the background to put the focus on your subject — even when you’re taking selfies.Portrait Lighting. Choose from six studio‑quality effects, then adjust the lighting intensity to show your subject in the best possible light. The camera has it’s own ups and downs, but considering the price point, I would say Very Good Camera.
When it’s all said and done, the new iPhone SE will sell out like candy because of 5 things. It’s made by Apple. It’s a $400 phone. Software Updates for many years. A13 Bionic to nail every task for the near distant future.And finally, Apple’s Battery Replacement Program.
When it’s all said and done, Apple has been in the Game for a long time and they know what they are doing. And Apple has, in my books, succeeded in making a Phone which checks every box to make a good Phone. I might even go so far as to say that the new iPhone SE is “The Most Essential Phone” as it nails all the Essential Features. Plus, it’s Apple. Apple can pull off everything.
Apple just entered and completely dominated the “Budget Phone of the Year” domain. And I don’t think it will lose this year.
