As our world is clinging to every strand of Hope in these disastrous times, a lot of things are going as unplanned and even the Mighty Google can’t escape it.

As of Today, Google has released DP4, a.k.a, Developer Preview 4 for Android 11. This is an unplanned and unannounced release by Google. Google Previously had announced that there would be only 3 Developer Preview Releases and 6 Beta Releases. Now, Google has Tweaked it’s Process and released a video stating that there would be 4 Developer Preview Releases and 7 Beta Releases before the Stable Android 11 comes to consumers. And I think there’s more to the story.

Anyways, as the previous Developer Preview Releases have shown us, they include stability updates and provide a glimpse of what could be in the future if all works out well. Just like before, Google has some new features to show in the new DP4.
Google has yet again tweaked the recents menu this time too. In DP3, Google introduced a new recents menu which had 2 options. Namely, “Screenshot” and “Share”. This time, they added a “Select” option.

Select option selects Shareable Text from the open window.

Google has introduced Picture-in-Picture mode resizing options and other UI tweaks but it’s very buggy as of now.

Styles and Wallpapers adds a new feature to it’s “Pixel Themes” category. It allows the system to change the Icon Shape to the user’s liking. Currently, there are 6 shapes in total which should be enough to most user’s liking.

That’s mostly what I have discovered as of now and it seems like there are many under the hood tweaks to the system which are always welcome.
Google will be hosting the Android 11 Beta Program Launch Event on June 3 at 11 am ET(8:30pm IST). Join here.
Google has been tweaking and bringing about great reforms to it’s Updates delivery Methods. They introduced Project Mainline to faster provide System Updates to devices. They announced “Google Play System Updates” in Android 10 to provide updates to phones without the interference of OEMs. But, it seems Google has not made much progress in their vision of Software Updates. After all, Google wants to be like Apple in software updates. And I think they have plans to introduce some other project so as to speed up the delivery mechanism to match their vision.
Until that Happens, Stay Home Stay Safe….
